D4D4U
Guntrisoft was commissioned to develop the online DVD swapping service D4D4U during the winter of 2001.
Background on D4D4U
When Guntrisoft were first asked to work on D4D4U, the company was a start-up project. The company wanted to set an online service to allow customers to swap DVDs, using a voucher system.
The concept was simple, customers send in their old DVDs in return for vouchers, the number of which for each DVD was determined by D4D4U. Customers were then able to exchange their vouchers for new DVDs, whilst paying a small handling charge.
The Requirement
Initially the brief given to Guntrisoft was to work in partnership with D4D4U to create a web based front end for the business, to enable the customer process, including sending DVDs in and ordering new DVDs, to take place.
During the requirements phase however, it was discovered that Guntrisoft could develop a far more sophisticated web based business management system.
The Solution
Launched around Christmas 2001, the finished system encompassed all phases in the business process for D4D4U, both from the customer and management perspectives, including the flexibility to re-brand the customer side if necessary. The system handles the management of revenue, customers both incoming and outgoing stock and distils the human effort required to manage the day to day running of the business to an administrative role.
