Soccer Gaming Downloads Centre
Guntrisoft was asked by Soccer Gaming, during the summer of 2000, to develop a downloads centre to house and manage all the downloads for all the sites across the SG network.
Background on Soccer Gaming
Soccer Gaming is run by a group of dedicated soccer fanatics who enjoy the thrill and excitement of soccer gaming. They are a network of sites dedicated to various areas of soccer games. Their aim is to promote soccer games and bring up to date information on all the latest and greatest soccer games.
The creation of Soccer Gaming, the internets largest and most successful Soccer Gaming network, began in October 1997.
On April 10th, 1999, FIFA Gaming Online was renamed Soccer Gaming. The change in names allowed for the site to cater for ALL soccer games.
Soccer is the most played sport in the world. With this thought in mind, the opportunities for Soccer Gaming to continue to succeed and improve are endless.
There are currently 20 sites on the Soccer Gaming Network.
With over 170,000 daily impressions (unique hits), which is over 5 Million per month, Soccer Gaming is the definitive resource for soccer games on the Internet.
Guntrisoft's involvement
Soccer Gaming approached us to design and build a custom download management system for the entire SG network. This system would enable all of the downloads for the SG network to be collected together into one central web resource. Not only this, but they required a system that was scaleable, to incorporate new sites as they are added to the SG network.
The system was also to include an individual download user rating and comment system, and the ability for users to submit their own downloads for inclusion.
The Downloads Centre comes complete with a web based back-end management and administration system, to facilitate easy updates and site maintenance.
The system went live at 03:45 GMT on 10 Feb 2001, and launched with close to 3000 downloads on it's books. The Downloads centre received over 8,000 hits in its first 7 hours of operation.
Update: Jan 2004 - The Downloads Centre now holds information on over 8,000 files, and continues to be a great success for the football gaming community almost 3 years on from its launch.
Update: August 2005 - The Downloads Centre is still going strong 4 and a half years later, and now has thousands of downloads available for 28 football games.
